Google Ads suspended for unpaid balance
Google Ads documentation › Account Issues › Account Suspensions
An unpaid-balance suspension is an account-level billing decision, not merely a card decline. Confirm that the notice names an outstanding balance before using this workflow.
Confirm the issue
- Match the customer ID in the notice to the account whose balance you are reviewing.
- Compare outstanding charges with completed, pending and reversed payments.
- Check whether the attempted payment was credited to the correct account and currency.
- Read any separate payment-verification requirement.
Review and correction workflow
Reconcile the balance before sending another payment. A bank debit and a Google Ads credit are separate records; a pending or unmatched transfer needs investigation rather than an assumed second payment. Ask the billing owner for the transaction reference and the account it was intended to fund.
After a balance correction, follow the review or appeal instructions associated with the suspension. Keep proof of the corrected balance and any requested verification. Payment completion alone is not confirmation that a separate suspension decision has been lifted.
Illustrative review example
A business sees a bank debit but still has an unpaid-balance notice. The useful first check is whether that debit is completed and mapped to this customer ID—not whether the campaigns need new ads.
What if the balance is already paid?
Provide the transaction and account reconciliation through the relevant support or appeal route. Keep the suspension status and payment status as separate facts.
Verify the outcome
Keep the original notice, the evidence reviewed and the action taken in one dated record. Confirm the resulting status in the affected account or item. A completed internal checklist is evidence of your review; it does not override Google’s decision.
Related checks and next steps
For a missing transfer, use bank transfer payment not credited. For an issuer decline, use card payment declined. Then confirm the separate suspension outcome.
