Google Ads account suspended after unauthorized activity
Google Ads documentation › Account Issues › Account Suspensions
A suspension associated with unauthorized activity needs both a security investigation and an account-status review. Recovering login access does not establish that campaigns, billing and permissions are back to the intended state.
Confirm the issue
- Identify the first unexpected campaign, access or billing change.
- Record affected user and manager access without sharing passwords or security codes.
- Compare current campaign settings with the last known intended configuration.
- Check Google’s incident or activity information where available.
Review and correction workflow
Secure the affected identity and follow Google’s account-security support process. Preserve a timeline of unexpected activity and corrective actions. Review who is authorized to manage the account; do not use a third party’s replacement identity as a recovery shortcut.
Separate the security decision from disputed charges and advertising reinstatement. After the incident process, check which items Google or the administrator paused and what still needs manual review. Resume only the campaigns the business actually intends to run.
Illustrative review example
An unfamiliar campaign appears during an account incident. Removing its visible ad does not answer whether another user still has access or whether other settings changed.
Does an account-access recovery mean ads should resume immediately?
No. Check the account decision, access list, billing alerts and campaign configuration before treating restoration as complete.
Verify the outcome
Keep the original notice, the evidence reviewed and the action taken in one dated record. Confirm the resulting status in the affected account or item. A completed internal checklist is evidence of your review; it does not override Google’s decision.
Related checks and next steps
A temporary security pause is covered in security-check pauses. Once reinstated, follow the account reinstatement checklist to review permissions, billing and campaigns.
