Disapproved Ads

A disapproved ad or asset cannot serve under the affected policy decision. The label identifies an outcome; the detailed policy notice identifies the issue. Correct classification helps avoid changing unrelated settings or appealing without understanding what was flagged.

This category is part of Review & Eligibility in our Google Ads documentation. Use it to distinguish the issue type before choosing a detailed guide.

What belongs in this category

This category covers the scope of ad and asset decisions, recurring disapprovals and the difference between item-level restrictions and account enforcement. It does not provide one universal fix because the required correction depends on the policy and affected element.

Find the actual affected element

Read the policy details associated with the item. The problem can concern the text, image, video, destination or another aspect of the advertising experience. A shared asset can be used in several places, so record the affected use as well as its visible name.

Keep a decision and change history

A useful internal log contains the item ID, original notice, content version, destination URL, evidence and correction. If a previously approved item is flagged again, compare the versions and destination behavior. Previous approval is relevant history, not proof that the current experience is unchanged.

Choose correction or dispute based on evidence

When a genuine issue exists, fix the relevant element and follow the associated review route. When the decision appears mistaken, explain the evidence supporting a dispute. The Fix Guides section provides the procedural workflow; the policy categories explain the substantive requirements.

Category review checklist

  • Record every policy named in the notice.
  • Distinguish a disapproved asset from a fully disapproved ad.
  • Check the ad and destination as one journey.
  • Verify the resulting status after review rather than assuming a successful save is approval.
