Verification Issues

Verification issues in Google Ads occur when requested advertiser information has not been completed, accepted or confirmed. A verification request is not automatically a suspension. Its effect depends on the account’s task, deadline and current status.

This page belongs to Google Ads account issues within our Google Ads documentation. It classifies the account state and the information needed to identify an appropriate response.

What advertiser verification covers

Google assigns verification tasks based on factors including the advertiser, billing setup and account circumstances. Tasks may concern an individual, organization, agency relationship or payment information. The current official instructions place account verification under Admin, Policy, Account; the notification is the best starting point if the interface differs.

The account administrator should read the actual task list before collecting documents. An unrelated document bundle may contain a great deal of information while still failing to answer the specific request.

Common verification issue categories

  • An assigned task has not been started or submitted.
  • Submitted information needs review or further clarification.
  • A document is not accepted or does not match the requested information.
  • A required deadline has been missed.
  • The business, payer or agency relationship needs to be explained.

These categories organize a review. Use the rejection or task message to establish which one applies; do not assume every failed submission has the same cause.

Deadlines, review and account pauses

Google distinguishes verification with a deadline, voluntary verification without a deadline and accounts already paused pending verification. Missing an assigned deadline can pause advertising. Use the deadline displayed in the account and allow time for review rather than assuming that submission alone completes verification.

A pause related to verification belongs alongside Account Restrictions & Holds. An explicit suspension needs the separate process described in Account Suspensions.

Preparing a consistent verification record

Before retrying a task, create a short comparison of what was requested and what was submitted. Recommended checks include the account type, legal or individual name, business address, payer information and the role of any agency. Use only fields relevant to the task.

  • Record the precise rejection or missing-information message.
  • Compare each requested field with the supporting document.
  • Check that the submitted document is readable and follows the upload instructions.
  • Assign the task to a person authorized to supply the information.
  • Keep a dated record of submissions and responses.

Do not alter authentic documents to make inconsistent information appear to match. If account information is wrong, identify the appropriate correction route. Keep sensitive document copies within the business’s normal access controls rather than circulating them as general troubleshooting attachments.

Separating document issues from business-model questions

A document review can concern whether a file is acceptable. A business-model request may need an explanation of who provides the service, who pays for advertising or how an agency is connected. Treat these as different questions and prepare evidence for the one actually asked.

For an illustrative agency scenario, record the advertiser, the manager of the account and the payer as separate roles. This makes it easier to explain a legitimate arrangement without treating an agency name as if it were the end advertiser.

What to check after submission

Track the task status and any follow-up request. Do not mark the issue complete only because a file uploaded successfully. Once verification is confirmed, check whether any separate policy, billing or account restriction remains. Verification and overall advertising eligibility are related, but they are not the same decision.
