Google Ads destination not crawlable
Google Ads documentation › Policy Issues › Destination & Landing Page Issues
Destination not crawlable concerns Google’s ability to evaluate the advertised destination. A page can appear normal in a browser while crawler access is blocked or constrained. Diagnose the actual access behavior before relaxing unrelated security controls.
Confirm the issue
- Review the affected URL and any tracker between the ad and page.
- Check applicable robots rules and whether robots.txt can be read.
- Inspect server and firewall evidence for rejected or challenged requests.
- Consider whether submission volume or crawl capacity is relevant.
Review and correction workflow
Ask the technical owner to connect the error with a specific rule or response. An ordinary browser test is useful, but it should be supported by the access evidence relevant to AdsBot. Do not assume that organic search indexing proves an advertising crawler can reach the same experience.
Correct the identified restriction while preserving necessary site protections. Retest the destination and document the result before requesting review. If the evidence shows the page is accessible, explain that evidence through the affected policy route.
Illustrative review example
A security rule presents an automated challenge on the advertised path. The page owner can load it after a cookie is set, while the advertising crawl still fails.
Is this the same as noindex?
No. An indexing directive and access to crawl a destination are different technical questions. Evaluate each separately.
Verify the outcome
Keep the original notice, the evidence reviewed and the action taken in one dated record. Confirm the resulting status in the affected account or item. A completed internal checklist is evidence of your review; it does not override Google’s decision.
Related checks and next steps
Retest the affected path with the landing page preflight. When preparing a dispute or review record, use appeal evidence guidance to describe the observed access result.
