Account Recovery Guides
Account recovery means resolving the specific condition affecting access or advertising and confirming the resulting account state. A billing issue, verification pause, security incident and policy suspension require different processes. This section organizes recovery work without treating them as one generic problem.
This category is part of Fix Guides in our Google Ads documentation. Use it to distinguish the issue type before choosing a detailed guide.
Start from the current account state
Record the notification, customer ID and any required task. Distinguish lack of login access from an account that remains accessible but cannot advertise. Identify which process the notice actually requires before making changes.
Resolve the underlying issue
Assign ownership for business evidence, technical corrections, payment reconciliation or security investigation as appropriate. Keep a dated record of what was established and what remains unresolved. Do not describe an assumption as a confirmed cause.
Review and reinstatement are separate stages
Where an appeal or verification is required, track its status. An internal fix is not the same as reinstatement, and reinstatement does not prove every campaign is ready to run. The detailed post-reinstatement guide covers validation of account and campaign conditions.
Check restoration without introducing new risk
Once the relevant decision changes, review access, alerts, billing status and campaign enablement. Compare the intended advertising configuration with what is active. Keep monitoring and ownership clear so an unresolved task is not lost after the initial recovery.
Category review checklist
- Classify access, pause, restriction and suspension separately.
- Use the process specified in the account.
- Maintain an evidence and change record.
- Verify both account status and intended campaign behavior.
