Tax & Invoice Issues
Tax and invoice issues in Google Ads concern billing documents, the information they contain and the account setup used to generate them. An invoice, payment receipt and statement can serve different purposes. Identify the requested document before investigating why it is missing.
This category is part of Billing & Payments in our Google Ads documentation. Use it to distinguish the issue type before choosing a detailed guide.
Document type comes first
Google’s billing-document guidance varies by billing country and payment setup. Start by recording the country, billing period and document type required. A card payment confirmation is not necessarily the same document as a tax invoice.
Check the correct billing identity
For an internal review, match the customer ID and payments profile to the business whose records are needed. Agencies may manage several clients, so access to a campaign is not enough to establish which entity appears on the billing document.
Investigate missing or incorrect information
Separate availability, permissions, date filters and document-generation timing from inaccurate business details. If a document is available but the entity is wrong, downloading it again will not resolve the underlying record. Check the profile details and the correction options available for that situation.
Maintain an accounting handoff record
Provide the document, billing period, currency and relevant account identity to the accounting team. Flag unresolved differences instead of renaming a document to imply that it is something else. This category explains platform documentation; tax treatment depends on the business and applicable rules.
Category review checklist
- Select the correct account and billing period.
- Identify whether an invoice, receipt or statement is required.
- Compare document details with the payments profile.
- Use the applicable official correction route for historical discrepancies.
